The day after I applied the second box I noticed workers removing larval bees. I assumed that this was due to the influx of sugar syrup and that they were making room to store it, but in less than a week this hive has been overrun by small hive beetle. I think what I was seeing were the contents of brood cells being emptied after being damaged by the beetles. If there's still a laying queen in this colony the beetles gobble up her eggs as fast as she can lay them. They are truly doomed. . .
